Privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026
This policy describes how textheat handles information when you use the textheat website, playground, and Chrome extension. Textheat is designed to analyze text on your device. It does not send analyzed text or results to textheat servers, sell them, or share them with third parties.
Text you analyze
When you use the playground, text you enter is processed in the page in your browser to identify and display lexical emotional-language highlights and related local analysis. The extension similarly processes website content on your device to display requested highlights. It starts Off. Auto mode requires an explicit choice and optional site access; Manual mode processes page text only after you invoke a tool. If you opt into editable-text processing, eligible rich-text editor content may also be analyzed; native text fields are supported only for explicit Manual checks. Passwords are excluded. These text and analysis results are used only to provide the feature, are not sent to textheat servers or third parties, and are not retained by textheat after processing.
Information stored on your device
- The website saves your color-theme choice in this browser's local storage.
- The extension saves its preferences and per-site settings in Chrome local storage. This may include its mode, theme, highlight threshold, animation and display options, and hostnames for sites you explicitly configure. A configured hostname is used only to apply that site's saved preference; it is not sent to textheat.
- Neither the website nor the extension saves the text being analyzed.
These settings are stored on your device and are not sent to textheat. You can remove the website's saved choice by clearing this site's browser storage, and remove extension settings by uninstalling the extension or clearing its data in Chrome.
Optional browser-provided model
The website may offer an optional second opinion using a browser-provided on-device language model. It is off unless you explicitly use or enable the relevant control. The model is managed by your browser, not by textheat. If you choose a model download, the browser may download model files; that download and any associated platform processing are governed by your browser provider's policies. The Chrome extension does not use this model.
Website requests and hosting
When you visit the website, your browser necessarily requests the page and its local assets from the site host. The hosting provider may receive ordinary request information such as your IP address, requested URL, time, and technical headers, and may keep server logs under its own policies. textheat does not put your analyzed text into those requests and does not operate analytics or advertising trackers.
The website does not load external fonts, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or remote images. Downloading the extension is a normal file request to the site host.
Permissions and page access
The extension uses Chrome's storage permission for preferences, activeTab for explicitly invoked Manual actions on the current tab, scripting to run its bundled local code, and optional HTTP/HTTPS site access for Auto mode. Auto access is requested only when you select Auto. Page content and any selected text are processed locally for highlighting or the requested Manual result; no content, results, browsing history, or telemetry are transmitted to textheat or shared with third parties.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Textheat's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Textheat uses data only to provide the user-facing text-highlighting and settings features described here; it does not sell data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to third parties.
Children, changes, and contact
textheat is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children. This policy may be updated if the product or its data practices change; the effective date above will be revised when it does.
